Roll up, roll up! Select your phonogram deck here! A phonogram is a written sign, in this case a hieroglyph, that represents a sound. Just as the written letter b represents the b sound in spoken English, the horned viper hieroglyph is thought to have represented the f sound in ancient Egyptian. Egyptian hieroglyphs come in three flavours: 1-consonent (uniliteral), 2-consonent (biliteral) and 3-consonent (triliteral) - the ancient Egyptian's didn't write down vowels!
The next stage of the project will be to create flashcards for words and simple phrases. Let me know if you're interested, it might speed up the process :-)
